Difficult emotions have a home in the body, and by meeting them in their physical dwelling space which is typically marked by constriction, we can begin to pay attention with care and tenderness. Care and tenderness produce a kind of catalyst which help us process emotions the way enzymes help us process foods. Presence is the catalyst, a willingness to be with and care for the wounded parts. This is a helpful practice to do individually, but not a substitute for reaching out to another human for the support we need in difficult times. We need each other.
Our relationship with a person is really multiple relationships.. there is the actual person, and there is the version of that person that resides in our mind.. this brief practice harnesses the power of the violet flame and the infinity symbol to infuse our relationship, our experience of it, and our experience of ourselves in relationship to it.. Tonglen is a practice of connection
